And don't forget to end on a bang, not a whimper: a call to action, a repeat of the main point: what you want remembered. Never a weak 'thank you'. Heck, they should be thanking YOU.

"Suprise" is a common misspelling of the word "surprise", which is the correct spelling for an unexpected event or feeling, or to cause someone to feel astonishment. The mistake often occurs because the first "r" is not clearly pronounced in the word, leading people to spell it as they hear it.

I was a speaker first up one morning in front of a crowd of law enforcement agents and thought I will break the atmosphere with a joke I enjoyed my wife shared the previous day.. I asked the crowd 'what is the meaning of PMS? It is possible murder suspect'. I heard a singular faint from somewhere in the front and suspect that was mostly because of the silence I was met with after telling the joke. Lesson learned? Don't try to open with any jokes in ANY of my presentations🤣🤣
