Beginners use questions all the time. It seems easy but CAREFUL: the question needs to be something answerable, related to your topic and open ended. I’ve heard people ask “Have you ever wondered what it would be like to speak Chinese?” To a crowd of people. A few think “yeah” and most think “actually, no.” Oops! You’ve just told them “this speech is not about you! “ Or, i’ve heard rambling opening questions that the listener only realizes at the end (thanks to unconvincing vocal inflection) that it was a question. Now they have to stop listening to you, attempt to remember what you said, what their answer is, by the time they turn attention back to you (if you are very lucky, because attention can always go to a phone…) the speaker, you’re well into you talk.
