Things started to make complete sense when you said we eliminate the half steps of the diatonic scales!

This is flat-out the best video I’ve seen that explains pentatonic scales succinctly and with relevance to how we play music. Excellent.

Hi Ricky

Just wanted to take the time to thank you for the lessons on understanding the major and minor pentatonic scales. I invested an hour of my time to watch all three videos and sat in amazement as the scales (pardon the pun) fell away from eyes. It all made sense. I jammed along with a short sample and was able to know when to use the major and when to use the minor. And the different shapes made sense in relation to it all. I know it will take some time for me to totally absorb the complexities but from today's lessons I'm happy to enjoy the simplicity of it. Thank you

Andy

The real goal is understanding intervals and how they relate to each other to form things like triads, scales and chords. The pentatonic shapes are formed from intervals, and until you really understand that you will be confined to thinking only in shapes.

The flattening affected the third note C only, but the flattening occurred at six, affecting the 7th too. What is the logic behind it? I don’t think I understand.
