Don't forget that taking a photo is a way to "have" it when you no longer HAVE it. This has been helpful to me .

I’ve been watching your channel a long time, i find it strangely therapeutic (i grew up in a cluttered home). I lost my mum recently and i am currently packing from my flat to move into my Mum’s home as i have inherited it. I have a long road ahead of me but I wanted to say thank you. You keep me company on the days i am alone feeling overwhelmed and lost. Thank you for making this content. It helps more than you know. Love the make over, it looks fabulous.

I have been following for the last 3-4 years and I have vompletely transformed my life. It started with decluttering, my consumption followed, I took on the family finances and all of our routines and Systems. This year I will be paying off pur house, I am starting a business and I feel completely in control.... of the things I can control. So thank you ❤🎉

You alluded to it- I'd like to encourage folks to recognize the importance of their lives and choose a container (not a huge one!) to keep things that represent who you were and are. As a genealogist, the gift of that insight into the lives of our ancestors is huge. We often don't recognize that during our lives but your children, grandchildren, great grandchildren may find that an incredible gift to find in 20 or 30 years. Or 100 years! Don't go crazy- some photos, things you written by hand, achievements, a couple of items dear to you with an explanation of what they are and why they were important to you. Decluttering is all about getting rid of the things that are not of current or lasting value. Just don't underestimate YOUR value to future generations.

Might I suggest you take pictures of your art work that way it doesn’t take up space but you can still access it to go down memory lane in the future. 👍🇨🇦

As an idea; if you want to get rid of some linens/ towels etc but they're not nice enough for donating, consider your local animal shelter. They are always on the lookout for that sort of stuff

"These things have already been time tested." WOW. I've been (slowly) decluttering since moving 6 1/2 years ago. And this phrase, in going through the things I haven't used in all that time, is a game-changer. Thank you, thank you for your wisdom, explaining the reasons why things are hard, and how to approach them. It was incredibly helpful to hear Diana and you talk through the decision to sell or donate her motorcycle jacket. After a year of following you, I've finally reached the point where I realize that even if I should have to re-purchase something that went in a declutter, I'm still ahead because I have had the gift of so much less inventory to manage.

One thought on the medical equipment. It's often very bulky so takes a lot of room to store it. And I see it in thrift stores all the time. I would donate it so that someone else who needs it right now can use it. Then if you need a shower seat, etc. in the future, it's very likely that you'll find one at the thrift store.

Categorizing is huge! It can make it way easier to let things go when you realize you have 10 of them.

Regarding the beloved quilts: If you have a drafty window, door or area, find a way to display the quilts that will block the drafts.
