Note from the director's commentary:  Kate Beckinsale has a special talent:  She doesn't blink when firing guns. Unusual among actors.  No sunglasses to hide this necessary. Makes her look extra -stylish.

Michael Sheen has a lot of range. He’s played a werewolf, a vampire, an angel, Lucifer (in an audiodrama), a David Bowie-like computer program, Tony Blair (several times), and a foul-mouthed lawyer, to name just a few

The big lycan with the super-deep voice was played by Kevin Grevioux, who also wrote the film. Many people were surprised when they first met Kevin at conventions that his voice really is that deep.

The Matrix aesthetic works so well with Vampires. Those glowy blue eyes every time a Vampire gets angry/aroused were such a cool idea. Also Bill Nighy steals the entire movie. He is bloody perfect as Viktor.
