Very insightful. Much better than most other podcasts claiming large truths on zone 2 (but all repeating the same aspects time after time)

Cannot express how eye opener it was in regards of Zone 2 training ( and others zones as well !!! It took me months of those videos about Zone 2 watching almost daily to stumble upon this one !

I recommend the podcast!
I’ve listened to dozens of others before this one.

Really enjoyed listening to this on an easy run. And as I am getting back into running in my mid 40s, Scott really convinced me to ease back into things and really embrace low Hr. Can't wait to try a low threshold test... hadn't heard of it before

Was a great talk. I raced ultra marathons for 14 years then switched to cycling and mtb. So I was able to relate to everything Scott was saying. Thank you

One of the best comment I ever head yet so often neglected - not always people respond the same to the same input- and if you look on research - on the very same workout some people can gain 2x strength than “average” and some people cannot or don’t or even lost - and it not like 2 out of 100 but from samples of 10-20 could be 1-2-3 people so not really small chance of it being you

While the conclusions are right, the explanation around 16:00 ... contradict San Millan and are false. Exceeding first aerobic threshold does not involve significant anaerobic pathway. Its the shift of aerobic fat burning to aerobic carb burning. Even the second threshold is not significantly anaerobic. Its still aerobic even though its called anaerobic tbreshold for historic reason. It just means the lactate production from aerobic carb burning exceeds the capacity to remove it. According to San Millan there is plenty of oxygen up to VO2max. Anaerobic metabolism starts to play a role above VO2max, which is roughly 120% of LT2. The carb availability is too low for long race like efforts, that is why fat metabolism is important, and that is trained at low intensities, i.e. Z2 because there it is relatively high and can be sustained longest and the stress allows for daily training.
