  Let’s not forget that at the time of filming philosophers stone, the novels were only up to the goblet of fire. The early directors had incredible vision.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=defpMFshmfU&amp;t=624">10:24</a> &nbsp;I really don&apos;t get the mocking of the Columbus-directed films, they just have so much charm especially since the characters are kids and the world feels magical in a fun way before it becomes more serious later in the series.

  Chris Columbus almost directed all eight Harry Potter films but being away from home &amp; his kids I understand his position on leaving after 2nd film.

  Dan was drunk during the funny scenes in Half-Blood (and more). He’s spoken about this, he hates rewatching it because he just sees a sad kid. He was basically an alcoholic at that young age due to the stress. I know this video is an overview, but I saw no other comments pointing this out and I think it’s important alongside the other bts-trivia you included. I agree the movies are an important feat of themselves, and Dan seems to be doing fine today (and filthy rich) but let’s not pretend it was all a game of creative juices flowing.

  What’s really amazing is that despite the actor playing Dumbledore dying and thus PoA being delayed a year to reshoot, the movies kept releasing consistently afterwards and the audience turnout didn’t diminish in the slightest.
