  One of the things about Twiggy was her humor and a kind of tongue-in-cheekiness about her. She had a giggly kind of charm that was disarming. Her image announced the beginning of the so-called &quot;Youthquake&quot;, the coming of age of the first baby boomers. The paradox was this was supposed to be the beginning of the Sexual Revolution but most of the fashion placed young women in grown-up version of children&apos;s outfits, such as pinafores, school uniforms, and very, very short A-line dresses similar to little sun dresses. <br>I was born in 1953, so I was around at this time, and I was aware what was going on. Being a farm girl, I wore my jeans and T-shirt or turtlenecks. And at school, out dresses had to touch the floor when we were on out knees. Much of what was in fashion magazines just never were a part of our lives as they were just too impractical and immodest. But everyone adored Twiggy!! She had/has a universal appeal.

  The most comprehensible and exciting account of Twiggy&apos;s phenomenon. She started the era of fashion icons - personalities who are followed in terms of lifestyle, interests, and preferences, not only clothes.

  There was a definite divide between the 15th~mid 20thC ..years of the “unattainable perfection of a goddess” &nbsp;distant, static, uncomfortable and unchanging…Twiggy was accessible, light…a girl woman…women’s choices became a desire for ease, motion, comfort and curiosity …the past might not have accepted &nbsp;“Twiggy”…but the &nbsp;caged Swans harbored desires of rebelling. The curious thing &nbsp;now…after getting every fashion freedom …we have very little style or Jouy de vie. Taylor Swift’s wedding is a 21st c production…money, Ozempic…but nothing mysterious or interesting…it’s hard to ponder why it is as it is!

  &quot;Twig the wonder kid&quot; (Drive-in Saturday/Bowie).<br>She was gawky but she had a kind of elegance. Some people cower in front of the camera but she became who she was.<br>I looked through the camera and this face looked back at me, and I turned round to Leonard (hairdresser) and just went &apos;wow&apos;. It was the effect of her looking back at me, I can&apos;t find the adjective to describe it. I think it was the eyes, she had such presence. (Barry Lategan/photographer)<br>Interestingly Mia Farrow cut her hair short early 1966. She was photographed by Richard Avedon.<br>Warhol muse Edie Sedgwick was girl of the year in Vogue 1965. She felt that Twiggy had stolen her look. <br>Jean Seberg&apos;s appearance in Breathless 1960, and Julie Christie in Billy Liar 1963 come to mind as harbingers of 1960&apos;s youth culture. <br>It&apos;s a really interesting analysis, thank you. <br>I love Twiggy. I&apos;ve got the National Portrait Gallery book, A Life in Photographs. I love how her career, and beauty, grew. How she remained very grounded as a person.

  idk twiggy was incredibly pretty. in the 2000s we actually get non-pretty models.
