  Fun fact: Rush's first show with Neil Peart was at the Igloo opening up for Uriah Heep

  I worked the from 1990/1993 just so happened to be the best years for the penguins.  I worked during the day time hours and it was a blast getting to know that building. It was awesome 😎

  The acoustics were what made the civic arena great for hockey. The E and F sections were so steep you were screaming on top of the players. Loved it. Miss it!

  Oh man, I will always miss this place. &nbsp;PPG just doesn&apos;t have the same feel at all. &nbsp;Great memories with my whole family. &nbsp;The 1990 All-Star game was awesome. &nbsp;We were at the first skills competition! &nbsp;We got caught up in a giant line for Lemieux&apos;s autograph that staff suddenly moved at a Russian Penguins v Muskegon (maybe Cleveland by then) Lumberjacks game and we just stayed put. &nbsp;He signed next to Howard Baldwin 😂. &nbsp;There are old videos of the first Penguins seasons where my grandpa is sitting next to the old goal judge before they were in boxes, before they were gone!<br><br>People love to complain here how the Penguins ruined the Hill. &nbsp;This place was built before the NHL even considered expansion seriously. &nbsp;And Art Rooney had to pull strings with his NFL buddies to even make it happen here. &nbsp;That was certainly no given. &nbsp;And the Hornets were awesome upon thier return after the arena was built. &nbsp;They won the Calder their last year! &nbsp;Grandpa was mad the Hornets were being disbanded, but then bought Penguins season tickets 😂

  It was the greatest arena ever. You were on top of the ice. It was loud. You knew you were in that arena just by look. Now every arena looks the same
