14.35 Yes. So simple. I teach high School Family and Consumer Science class. I have just started my housing unit. One thing I have each student do is research how to do a simple home repair. Exchanging plugins and light switches are top of the list. Other things that I included in research is replacing water heaters, changing out leaky toilet flappers, installing or replacing ceiling fans, installing garage door openers, how to paint cabinets, how to install vinyl flooring, you name it if a homeowner can do it I have them research and present it. At the end of the presentations the students discuss if it is a repair they can do themselves or would hire done. Your channel has been an inspiration to me for years.

Write the circuit/breaker number on the back of the cover plate with black sharpie once you know which one it is. Great for future info.

Also take a picture before removing the wires.

Electrician here. One more thing though.<br>Once you have connected the wire to your new socket, switch etc, gently pull or wiggle on it to make sure the connection is tight.<br>A loose wire can cause fires.

The way I've always remembered Line vs Load is: LIne (I for In); LOad (O for Out).

Test your tester on a known live plug first. That was a very painful lesson to learn.

The reason that all smoke detectors have an effective life of 10 years is not because of the battery. Smoke detectors with replaceable batteries still have to be replaced every 10 years. It is because they contain a tiny amount of a radioactive isotope that is used to detect smoke that has a half life that makes them unreliable to detect smoke after around 10 years.
