  There’s a popular fanfic where the Malfoys have a tradition of never actually being the people in charge. &nbsp;That can be dangerous when the political winds shift. &nbsp;If you’re approximately the second in command of whatever regime there is, or a personal friend of those in charge, that’s much safer and lets you (or at least your descendants) switch quickly if the winds change.

  Malfoy didn&apos;t buy the Quidditch tickets. He was a guest of Fudge. And he was probably exaggerating when he said the Weasley&apos;s house wouldn&apos;t pay for a ticket.

  Here is my answer to the question: Why are the Malfoy&apos;s so rich?: The Malfoys are probably landowners. The most profitable way to manage land is to build houses and rent them out. That means the Malfoys collect money from their tenants, in pounds sterling. Of course, the Malfoys have no use for pounds; they need gold coins. Presumably, there are a few Squibs or Muggle-borns who work at a bank. Gringotts probably has an account at a London bank into which the tenants pay their rent. Gringotts keeps pounds in its own account and gives Malfoy galleons in exchange at the current exchange rate. What happens to the pounds? The magical community cannot conjure up food, so it has to buy it. Where do they “import” food from? Presumably from England, which is what the pounds are used for. The trade balance between wizards and Muggles is therefore balanced. After that, the magical community has only one problem: all the galleons accumulate in the Malfoys&apos; vault, but this is solved by Lucius spending the money on luxury goods.<br>If we look away from money and at real goods, the Malfoys exchange living space for food and then, in the wizarding world, food for luxury goods. The whole thing is probably handled by Gringotts Bank, which profits from it.

  I think it could be part of the Malfoy&apos;s strategy to play both sides that only Lucius is a death eater. Either him and Narcissa agreed that only he should get the mark, or he specifically instructed her to not join, so they always had that extra opportunity. And then they probably explained it with her needing to take care of their baby son, when for instance her sister Bellatrix surely pressured her about it.

  The Malfoys are from Wiltshire, which happens to be home to Corsham Court, which once belonged to English royals until the late 1500s. This manor also happens to have Peacocks roaming the grounds. Very likely the Malfoys liver nearby. Interestingly, Whiltshire is also home to Stonehenge, which has always had a magical air to it.
