  There were many who played Tarzan.  There was one who WAS Tarzan.  My two favorites were Johnny Weissmuller and Johnny Weissmuller.

  Jonny Weissmuller came to my local outdoor pool in Hamilton, Ontario when I was just a kid. He gave out photos. First celebrity I had ever seen in person.

  I was born in 1971, and I’m 55 years old. In my opinion, Johnny Weissmuller is the greatest Tarzan of all time.<br>Johnny Weissmuller had an incredibly athletic physique, and he was, above all, an outstanding swimmer. That’s probably why his Tarzan movies always featured plenty of impressive swimming scenes.<br><br>And of course, there is Tarzan’s famous battle cry — that iconic “Aaaah!” sound. Weissmuller’s films made the Tarzan yell truly iconic, and it was later copied and imitated in countless other movies and TV shows.<br><br>Beyond that, the action and violence in his films were used in just the right amount. I grew up watching Johnny Weissmuller’s Tarzan movies on black-and-white television.<br><br>His Tarzan became a whole film series, which itself shows how successful and popular those movies were at the time. Just like Terminator and Rambo later became successful movie franchises, Johnny Weissmuller’s Tarzan films were a major series in their own era.<br><br>For me, Johnny Weissmuller will always be the real Tarzan.

  I absolutely adore Alexander Skarsgard&apos;s version of Tarzan but my favorite Tarzan will always be Ron Ely. I grew up watching his series as a kid so he&apos;s just the epitome of Tarzan to me
