Why is Patton in the thumbnail? Patton wasn't involved in the Normandy breakout. The breakout was performed by Bradley's US 1st Army in late July 1944. Patton's 3rd Army wasn't combat activated until 1st August, AFTER the breakout had already occurred. Patton's 3rd Army merely exploited the breakout by US 1st Army.

My father serve in Vietnam and im so proud of him RIP. I used to love listening to his experiences, when I stop being a kid I know that the more I search about wars i don't know why i couldn't stop watching anything about WW2 , i get this feeling, a rush and my heart starts racing, its like i was or i have been in something just like it in another past time i know it sounds crazy but i swear , i am not looking for nothing im not trying to get money or fame., i just have the need to say it for the first time to someone that loves documentaries or movies like movies hereSaving Private Ryan ! What!!! I feel every shot every scream all the action the level of pain like i was there, im sorry and im not trying to disrespect anyone my respect to the ones that gave everything so we can enjoy freedom., i am always buying army clothing equipment ect. Its like Im preparing for something that's coming and I want to be prepared, I will love to serve but never made it because at the time my English was little but i will give everything, my life just to be a soldier even for one day, i know if many of you will probably laugh at me but i hade the need to say it thank you, enjoy what you wanted to be even if u didn't get it and live for what you love., happy new year 01/01/26 !!!

In history it is recorded that the massive bombings of July 25 led to the breakout. But in the immediate aftermath, the attack ended the same way other similar attempts had ended, in failure. But then, the Ninth Tactical Air Force, coordinated with pilots acting as a ground observer, riding in a special tank with an airplane radio, proved decisive. A fresh flight of 4 fighter bombers would arrive over each spearhead each hour, taking out blocking positions faster than the Germans could put up new ones. Precision bombing was more effective than massive bombings spread over a few square miles. The type of coordination was brand new and unknown in any other army, including the German army.

The American bombers at the kickoff of Operation Cobra dropped their bombs on the 30th Infantry Division two days in a row. First on July 24th, killing a couple dozen, including two of my uncles. Cobra was then postponed to the 25th, but the same thing happened, killing a little over 110. However, Bradley decided to proceed with the attack.

Excelent overview. My four uncles were in the middle of this with the third and fourth armored divisions. Live film like this let’s me see what they saw to go along with the stories. Uncle Lou was killed on August second and is buried in Brittany.

See, Patton should have known about the Bocage country as he had toured the area between the wars…

It never said how the Allies tricked the Nazis into believing the landing would be at Calais ? This trick was helped by a Japanese General stationed at the Japanese Embassy in Berlin.

Allied Airpower was also indispensable for Allied success...There were many examples of American Exceptionalism....
