What if Jon Snow were Lyanna and Robert's Son? Let's explore the depths of it in this video. Robert finds Lyanna standing by the balcony in one of Harrenhal’s many great structures. She decides to leave the festivities behind her and focus on trying to clear her mind of everything that just happened. By now, the events of the tourney are a blur. Just a series of fleeting images of men and horses rushing upon one another. She does not even recognize half the men who faced off against each other. The greatest exception to this is Rhaegar. No, that is a face that remains stubbornly lodged in her memory. She recalls the way his hair streaked behind his back as he rode, the sadness in his voice when he strummed his harp, and how effortlessly he humbled his foes. But most of all, he remembers how he handed her that rose. Rhaegar did it with quiet confidence, not saying a word and simply riding off after with a faint smile. The mystery leaves her wondering what it could mean, her mind replaying everything and trying to understand every small detail. She spins the rose in her hands, smiling to herself as she lets those memories rush through her and lets her mind fill in the blanks. Robert: I thought I would find you here, Lyanna. Lyanna: Robert! I thought you’d be downstairs. He glances over to the rose in her hands. No words are necessary to explain what it is. He already knows. Robert: That is Rhaegar’s gift to you. Lyanna: It is. He named me the Queen of Love and Beauty. It would feel wrong to dismiss it. Robert: Aye, it would. He was only paying you your dues. Laughs nervously. Lyanna: Thank you, Robert. Robert: But you know, it is rather unprincely for him to give such a thing to a woman betrothed to another. Some might claim he desires you. Lyanna: They might. And yet, you said it was my due.s So why are you so upset? Robert: Who says I’m upset? Lyanna: I am. I can see it in your face, my lord. I can see it in how your jaw tenses and you say his name. If you are upset, you can tell me, you know. If you cannot admit that, then how do you expect us to be married? Robert: Fine then, I am upset. Yes, it is wrong for him to do it, and I might have laughed it off at first, but I’m not pleased that he would do such a thing. Surely you can see why. Lyanna: No, Robert. I cannot. Yes, we are about to be wed, but what do we actually know of each other? You speak of my beauty all the time, but is that all you truly know of me? What about my interests and what I’ve experienced? Robert: There is time to learn that, when we are wed, we can have our whole lives to get to know each other. Lyanna: That is the problem. I know you, Robert. I know you have a bastard in the Vale, and I’ve heard all the tales you’ve spoken to Ned and Brandon. I know that I cannot love a man like that. Who cannot keep to one bed? Robert: And you think that dragon prince is any different? Tell me, while you stare at that pretty little flower, did you ever think about his wife or the fact that he has a child? And yet he named you his queen of love and beauty while his wife watched in the stands? Lyanna did not think of that, but as those words are placed in her mind, she cannot unsee them. Her body tenses as she considers what that means. She looks at the flower in a different light. Now, she does not see the handsome prince who offered it up to her. She sees the woman watching helplessly in the stands. She squeezes her daughter's hand and watches the sight. She wonders if Elia must hate her or if she has accepted this with quiet resignation. Is this the first time Rhaegar’s done this? Lyanna: He didn’t want to marry her. I heard that from my father. Robert: Aye, it was an arranged marriage. But does that suddenly make it all right? Does it suddenly excuse it if you were to do that with me? Lyanna: No, it doesn't. Robert: I won’t pretend I’m a saint in these matters. Hell, I should probably be the last person commenting on another's desires and appetites. But if you have a problem, I will try to hear it. The words are softer now. There is no accusation in his voice, simply exhaustion and weariness. #gameofthrones #gameofthroneswhatif #whatif
