I've heard stories about the horror and what germans did during the holocaust but when you watch documentary of something like this and listening to the survivors, and what they went through, it truly is hard to wrap your thoughts and mind around what really went on, in watching this documentary I truly felt for the poor survivors of the holocaust, especially Arek, listening to what he had to say was incredibly heart wrenching, my heart really went out to the people who were killed. felt a sense of sadness watching this...

It's truly impossible to wrap your head around the thought of this horror. How incredible that Arek survived this. He was not only lucky, he was also very smart, as he managed to avoid certain death so many times. What an incredible survival instinct.

Mr Tarrant,  I'm amazed that you made that journey.  It must have been horrific at times.  Those people who survived,  what memories they were left with.  This is not a journey that I could have made. It would have broken something in me.   Thank you for sharing something we must never forget.

You've done this so well Mr Tarrant, I always am enriched by your railway knowledge, but I understand this must have been a difficult documentary for you to make. I appreciate your effort here. Thankyou sir!

Excellent documentary. I wish that some scenes didn't have to be blurred for You Tube; everyone should see those photos. Wonderfully presented by Mr Tarrant. He was so attentive to those elderly survivors.

Here we go again.  I visited Birkenau in 1994, I spent the whole day there.  I walked up(stairs) to the main guard tower, and I took panoramic photos of the whole Konzentrationslager on the 50th anniversary of its liberation.  The Slovaks built the main gate; their quality construction is a testament to time.... and quality workmanship.

A well-made, important and touching documentary that at some point brought Paul Celan's line ""Death is a master from Germany" to my mind. It's enough to make you wonder if humanity will ever learn and on the whole change to the better. Still, one must never lose hope, because then all else is bound to be lost, anyway.
