  It's always amazed me that they could get the victim to carry part of the cross. Like, fuck you? What are they gonna do? Beat me to death? Honestly, that sounds better.

  What most of us don't really think about is the sheer trauma of even existing in those ancient times. Imagine just trying to keep your little family farm running, while outside on the main road there are soldiers nailing up 3,000 people in a long line. Everywhere you go for days all you can hear is the dying screams of the victims within earshot. For months you'd be breathing the stench of rotting human corpses. And of course there would be months of families walking past trying to identify the rotted broken corpse of a friend or loved one. Thousands of them. Just try and imagine that. I can't. I also can't imagine being the Roman soldiers who spend a month of their year nailing screaming victims onto crosses. The smell of blood and guts, and no doubt loosed bowels in every single case. Simply being alive at that time meant pretty regular exposure to extremes of human and animal suffering. We know today that such environments cause trauma and leave deep scars. But was it more 'normal' for people in the ancient past? I can't get my head around living in a world like that.

  I find it hard to believe that millions of people wear such barbaric torture til death devices on chains around their neck every day. It actually disturbs and disgusts me. Do they not think of what it actually is?

  I feel like Edison is a shining example of someone people will point to saying "see it just takes hard work to succeed" while blatantly ignoring the benefit of his clout and resources and ignoring people like Charles Goodyear who arguably had the same drive and inspiration and basically died in debtors prison for it (don't worry some people who did what he was trying to do years after his death are shameless millionaires in his name)

  The Soviet nuclear tests at the Semipalatinsk Test Site eventually drew the ire of the world, and in the wake of the Chernobyl disaster and other world events such as Glasnost, were ended in 1989.  But little known to the world were the diabolical plans concocted in the bigger city of Fullypalatinsk for father covert development and tests of nuclear weapons at the smaller, and arguably expendable Pacific island of Notverypalatinsk Atoll.  You may refer to that in future research, but only with attribution.
