  In the second movie there’s a part where Nuka says “Scar wasn’t even his father” when talking to Vitani about Kovu so we know that Kovu at least isn’t the son of Scar.

  In lion king 2 Nuka said "Kovu Kovu Kovu Scar wasn't his real father, he just took him in" so Scar adopted Kovu

  You really shouldn't use the live-action adaptation "Mufasa" as a source for the lore, because they threw the entire original story of Mufasa and Scar in the trash and re-wrote it.

  Pretty sure Zira wasn't in the first movie, because the second movie had not been planned then. I believe that Disney did not even believe in the success of Lion King in the first place.

  When it comes to the cubs, we do know that Kovu was not Scar&apos;s son, but that he was selected by Scar to become king. And unfortunately it&apos;s likely that Nuka is probably Scar&apos;s, if only because of the timing of everything, his age &amp; the hatred Nuka has for Kovu. Maybe, who knows. With actual lions, the leading male of the pride does get with the lionesses of the pride to continue his bloodline, so most likely, based on the age of the cubs, Nuka &amp; Vitani are probably Scar&apos;s... but the biggest mystery is just &quot;where exactly did Kovu come from if he wasn&apos;t a son of Scar?&quot; I&apos;m sure Disney didn&apos;t want to lean towards incest with Kovu &amp; Kiara, so that&apos;s why the &quot;Scar&apos;s not even his father&quot; part comes in... but it still doesn&apos;t answer anything else about Kovu&apos;s origins. There&apos;s a lot that we really don&apos;t know, but theories are only that, not fact.<br><br>Nuka is such a genuine tragic story, and it&apos;s a shame he couldn&apos;t receive a happier ending like Kovu &amp; Vitani ended up getting. Zira is really a great villain, one that shows that not every villain can (or wants to) be redeemed - she&apos;d rather fall to join Scar on her own terms than become a part of Simba&apos;s pride, the pride of the lion that took everything from her, including her children &amp; adoptive son. The fact this was in a direct-to-video sequel is already so BOLD and I wish they had just committed to the deleted scenes for it.

  Pretty sure the only actual reason they made it known that Kovu wasn&apos;t Scar&apos;s bio kid was because people would quickly realize the familial connection and say &quot;Wait doesn&apos;t this mean Kiara and Kovu are like cousins??? Ewww!&quot;

  I headcanon it was an age gap situation, she was already a bit younger than Scar (maybe even a socially acceptable gap and that might&apos;ve added to her believing it was normal) and her trauma—potentially where she got the notch in her ear—stunted her ability to judge character, so she trusted him, and he molded her into the calous lion she was. She had to have been programmed in some way for her to choose death over accepting that &quot;her&quot; way (Scar&apos;s way) wasn&apos;t right

  To be fair, Zira prayed for Scar to look after Nuka when he died and right before she lashed out at Kovu. So far she kinda does care about him when it is too late.

  Yeah, people have realized that the start of the second lion King movie. The cub looks different from this end of the first movie.

  I know it’s not a very popular theory, but I personally like — that Zira was Scar’s child, because it explains her resemblance (and her children), their ages and in general, why Scar would hand the throne over to a stranger...
