  The main message I got from this video is that Cave Johnson sold radioactive nuclear waste as a pudding substitute, and I can entirely believe that is something he would do.

  Honestly, the idea of Cave demanding the science boys find a use for nuclear waste simply to avoid having to pay for disposal is so in character that I'm 100% willing to accept that as canon

  Moon dust is also nearly a perfect diffuse reflector without any specular reflections. White paint would have a significant specular component to its reflection, resulting in different behaviors depending on the angle at which the portal was fired at it. Moon dust based surfaces would behave much more similar at various angles.<br>Portal surfaces that only work if you fired the portal at it &quot;direct on&quot; would not be as useful as portal surfaces that worked at any angle.<br><br>Lunar regolith isn&apos;t terribly reflective on its own, but it does reflect light in a very predictable, smooth way.<br><br>But the cosmic ray shit is probably more reasonable, since there are plenty of earth materials that are highly diffuse, like chalk.
