I just buried dead catfish carcasses, minus the meat, in with my tomato plants. You know what isn't vegan? Plants. Plants love meat.

We have several species of pitcher plant and pink sundews here where I live.  The soil our local carnivorous plants grow in is swampy and nitrogen-poor, which is why they've evolved to trap and feed on insects.  Venus flytraps are really neat, but very finicky to keep alive as a houseplant, and will die if you so much as look at them wrong.

I agree with you, flies can be a pain in the butt. I may also need some Venus Fly Traps.

We call the window nets "screens." I lived in parts of the US were they weren't needed. In the south though, the bugs and other things would carry you off in your sleep. I know because I tried it and ended up sharing my bedroom with things that might make even an Australian take notice. Very healthy and diverse ecosystem here, thank goodness, but rather not have the rainforest in the bedroom again.

Especially if you live in high tropical conditions like Florida.  These plants are needed

Many flowers have a trigger feature. I have actually done slow motion viseos of them. They are to knock off predatory insects that eat the flowers.
