I keep carnivorous plants. The Cape Sundew (Drosera capensis) is a brilliant plant. Big, makes long leaves that are gorgeous in sunlight and make it look like a palm tree when it's older, and does not understand the concept of death.

Like literally. If you cut it into bits, each bit of leaf will become a new plant, and also the roots will grow a new plant again. They don't like normal potting soil, it's too dry and full of minerals, but if one happens to end up there, it'll probably grow anyway out of spite.

And if you have one, you better be prepared to have more. They grow long flower stalks with dozens of flower buds, that each open out a pretty little pink flower for a very brief period every day.

They require no pollination. Each flower develops dozens of seeds. Seeds germinate easily. By the time the last flower is open, the first flower is already shedding little black specks all over the place. Soon, any pot vaguely nearby will become colonized, and whatever it once was will now share space with a cape sundew or twenty or maybe a hundred.

They're great. I've been known to react to flies in my home by grabbing a sundew and taking it hunting. One touch to the leaf and the fly is doomed.

Pinguicula (butterworts) are fun too, but they're much more temperamental. They rot easily if they collect water, and they're very delicate - A little wrong move and the plant explodes into a collection of leaves. Once again, those leaves will become plants, but it isn't exactly the least annoying event when you're trying to repot one.

They're also not as good at hunting. They want to catch much smaller prey than most carnivores, so if you've got gnats around they will cause an apocalypse (seriously, the whole plant will be covered in skeletal remains of gnats, and it'll be putting out more leaves to get more as fast as possible), but ants or fruit flies that are more common indoors are usually strong enough to just walk away (not so for sundews, they overpower houseflies without challenge).

Very lovely and interesting plants. Can recommend some of those. Some plants can be kinda annoying indoors - VFTs or Sarracenia (American pitcher plants) need tons of light, more than you can get through a window, so you need strong grow lights to keep them happy, Darlingtonia (cobras) are famously picky and randomly die if their roots are too warm or don't have enough oxygen, Nepenthes (tropical pitchers) often need pretty specific light or humidity (although so far my fairly mundane collection hasn't complained about whatever my apartment happens to have).
