  Trust the tree trimmer. You will need balance for storms and such. Dont worry they will grow denser and lusher

  I agree with the tree issue, your insurance will not be happy if anything happened knowing it was overhanging the house. Cutting the section off your mum suggested will actually make the tree grow better and fuller

  Call your power company, they can move/raise your power line while they bring the shed in.  Ours will do that for a nominal fee.  It’s worth asking!

  Insurance underwriter here. As beautiful as those tree branches are, if one falls and damages your roof, your homeowners insurance could deny the claim due to you not removing the branch hazard. And the tree debris will greatly shorten the life of your roof. The joys of homeownership and making these decisions...

  Your Mom is right.  Cutting those tree limb is safer for and your house during hurricane season in Florida.

  Food for thought - You don't want to distort the dimensions of workshop to your home size given how closely they will be situated. So balancing functionality but the overall aesthetic of your property have to be considered,  not only for your satisfaction as the homeowner but also for preserving value. A professional consultation for size and siting might be money well spent in the long run.

  Definitely get the branches cut over the house. I had a branch fall and go thru my roof and the moisture on the shingles from not getting the sun damaged my shingles

  Trees over the house damage your roof and give access to squirrels, mice and raccoons to your roof and attic.

  Your yard does look so much nicer with the shed moved... but just a thought...Extra green may cost you extra green after a nasty Florida storm...

  Branches over the house is not just an issue when they break (and they will). It also constantly drops leaves and other organic matter on the roof, increasing maintenance costs and shortening the life of the roof. You love in Florida, cutting the branches will promote new growth in areas that are not an issue.
