I would love for Yeasu to build a modern version of this 5000, like a FTdx-105MP or whatever, and have the same form factor WITH the SM500, except instead of having 2 display, one on the bottom and one on the SM5000, you would have the large touschscreen display of the 101MP. But you would keep the Analog Vu-meter, you would keep the direct access with buttons (maybe just rethought a little bit) and you would have let say 400 or 500w, to scale up from the 101MP, and of course all optional filters of the 101, 4 Antennas, etc… just to compete with both the Flex Aurora, but also with the Icom 7851 and 7760 in term of pricing. A Modern 5000 with all new bells & whistles from the 101MP, with 4-500w, and the nice panel with real buttons and knobs… oh yeah!
