  In 1975 my two-year-old son was taken with me upstairs at Children's Hospital on the cart to be tested. I set in front of a little boy in a bubble was in something that looked like a sandblaster with gloves for a person to reach inside the center of plastic bubbles and a collection of toys . He was a beautiful boy in trapped and yet seemed incredibly peaceful .  Nurses came in and placed their hands through those gloves. He gave me a sense of peace and of wonder and at the same time I was terrified that my son would die. I saw David and he gave me a sort of hope for those three hours. I never will forget, there was a quality about seemed almost otherworldly. Like David my son Nicholas had issues. Like David Texas children's tried and tried things had  that had never been tried before in medicine. After many years of effort and of fear we were very lucky. Nicholas's son  graduated from Texas A&M. I knew at least one of the doctors that new David and probably the nurses that helped to feed him through those gloves  also helped with my son. Even at his young age he showed a dignity that we should all be proud of . God bless you and Texas children's Hospital . My son turns 53.

  Thank you for this video. I remember this story from childhood. I was born in 78. Prayers and blessings to David's family. Its so nice to see they are doing well. ❤🙏🙏

  Inspired by the 1976 TV film "Boy In Plastic Bubble", starred John Travolta & the late Diana Hyland. And also "Bubble Boy" from 2.001.

  I was born in ‘72 and have an older brother with CF. It’s a rough childhood not knowing what your lifespan may be. He’s doing great, thanks to transplants and anti rejection drugs! Of course those mess up your immune system, but it’s still a life lived waiting on medical advances.

  I think it needs to be said the Mother refused to let his therapist write a book until 2019. I am sorry for her...but she the Mother knew this could happen yet did this anyway. The new book by his therapist is very well written without the same bias this Mother will always have.

  My words will be harsh.. Everyone traded in life and health of David, especially the three doctors. It was possible that he did not have any disease. They only wanted fame or he had this disease and made him a field for experiments... Likewise, the father and mother knew that there was a possibility of the newborn’s disease, so why did they give birth to him and he lived miserable life? No one felt David&apos;s grief, his pain, or his sad looks
