  John William Lokey is my GG Uncle. I have a family copy of his memoir that I published in the Sons of Confederate Veteran's magazine years ago. I have pictures of him when he attended Confederate Reunions with family members wearing their reunion badges. He ended up for good in Byars OK, SE of OKC. Last time I was there I put flowers and a flag on his grave.

  The current beauty of the Gettysburg battle field most certainly was covered in various body parts in July 1863. The weaponry was brutal.  Thank you for telling this story and reminding us of the horrors of war. The photography and music were beautifully done Waffles. Thank you for all your hard work and braving the ticks.

  Let's put this in perspective.  I am 72 and born in 1954, the battle of Gettysburg was in 1863, just 91 years before I was born.  In 18 more years it will be 90 years from when I was born.  We think history was "way back then" but it really wasn't that long ago.

  The reverence and respect you bring to each video is why I watch each story you publish. The beauty of the countryside reminds me of places in southwestern Ontario and where my folks farm was. The movie Gettysburg had many scenes that I would have sworn were in my folks township and county when they still had them in Ontario. That a man from Maine would rescue John W. Lokey does not surprise me .Now living in Nova Scotia can I attest to the kindness and downright friendliness of the people of Maine. Thank you for this wonderful episode.

  Two of my Confederate ancestors who were in the 20th Georgia lnfantry Bennings brigade fought at the Devils Den July 2 1863 near Gettysburg A sad and a terrible day for both sides Salute to the men of the Blue and Gray who fought so valiantly and died so bravely here over a hundred years ago Thanks for sharing this program it was very interesting

  On our way to Gettysburg today. Live in Lancaster.  Day trip      Thank you for this video.   We had 4 relatives who  were at Gettysburg , survived  lived to old age   .  They were the lucky ones.    Tyvm. Video well done

  My father was a schoolboy plowing an agricultural field on Little Round Top, with a mule-drawn plow, when someone drove by and told him that the USA had declared war on Japan. He's buried  down the street from The Old North Bridge in Concord, MA.
