  Replacing "here are your vegetables " with "here. What you've expected" is such an easy and tasteful way to make the dialogue ten times better

  Honestly, at least in this version, the mother actually seems dismissive of her daughter's issue, so Taash's reaction make sense. The original just felt like Taash was overeacting to a mother who didn't quite understand and was just asking questions to remedy that.

  Covering complex social issues with actual in-world dialogue? No that’s silly. How will people understand if I don’t remove all subtlety? They wouldn't understand if I don't have my characters speak in a modern and anachronistic vernacular.

  Absolutely agree that this change works better. I’m even ON THEIR SIDE but hearing a “dark fantasy medieval influenced” characters say “non-binary” was like nails on chalk for me. We don’t have to use 2024 words- we don’t. Those people did exist throughout people. Use clever wording and describe— don’t dumb it down, show your players more respect than that.

  The debate is there. Taash doesn&apos;t feel comfortable neither as a woman or an aqunathlok, but is yet to understand what that is since, like the mother told, is new for being free and away from the rules and tidy up life on home with mother&apos;s strict logical and straight up behavior. <br><br>The dialogue feels real, like a lost child who really loves and relies on the mother for support and guidance even if the mother doesn&apos;t know the answer, the lost child only wants to be sure that mother is there, that mother supports their pursuit of belonging. <br><br>Context and references are there. Like Taash asks Isabela, a new role model after joining the Lords of Fortune, &nbsp;for stories of strong warriors who weren&apos;t male, naturally Isabella remembers the Battery Ram shaped woman Aveline, but then Taash also don&apos;t feel comfortable relating to Aveline, a very feminine woman and also a peerless warrior. Then Taash looks at male warriors and don&apos;t feel like that behavior/instincts/clothing are the answer... <br><br>No pre made answers, no pamphlet, no anachronism... Just someone trying to find how to belong.
