  Former Angels radio employee here.<br><br>So the remote broadcast wasn’t an Arte Moreno fueled decision. That was Terry Smith, who was in his late 60s at the time and traveling was difficult for him. So they gave him the ability to broadcast from Angels stadium, which was about 20 minutes from him.<br><br>However, the board is over 20 years old, the broadcast studio makes no money for the stadium itself, had rats and roaches in the studio, the pay is basically minimum wage for a trade, and they refused to give anyone on the board operating staff full time hours or benefits unless you worked 6 days a week. So while the radio broadcast itself isn’t cheap because of Arte, the studio and its employees were NOT funded or marketed at all. Put that on top of how many hats the pregame and postgame guy Trent Rush has to wear (producer for Roger Lodge’s show, morning updates starting at 5 am that had to be recorded day of, all the pregame and postgame shows that usually ended around 11 pm, his own shows that he was doing on the station, and on field interviewer) it shows you how actually unfunded and understaffed the radio and broadcast team are.
