  One of my favorite theories about the Lizzy Borden murders is that <i>everyone</i> in the town knew she did it, but <i>everyone</i> in the town hated her father and step-mother so much that <i>no one</i> was ever going to be convicted of that crime.

  I saw the 1970&apos;s movie version of this event that starred Elizabeth Montgomery. It was excellent and stuck more to the facts of the case as they were known. &nbsp;I loved this current version as well. They&apos;re a ton of movies that add fiction or alter facts for entertainment purposes. I think the people dissatisfied with the accuracy of this re-imagined version of historical events should probably just stick to watching documentaries instead of movies. I enjoyed it for what it was.

  The biggest pet peeve for me was those cherry blossoms.<br>Those trees were constantly in bloom for months &amp; there was ripe fruit on the trees before there ever should have been. <br>Lizzie ate from a pear tree, not a cherry tree.<br>Drove me nuts.

  The Netflix pure fiction Monster show should have been called anything but the Lizzie Borden story. It had absolutely nothing to do with the actual story. Sadly, people that don’t know anything about this story will walk away thinking this is what happened and that couldn’t be further from the truth. &nbsp;He just perverted the Lizzie Borden name to get views and cash. imo

  I just continued to be annoyed throughout this series. &nbsp;It was like a train wreck, you just can&apos;t look away from. I&apos;m probably done with the Monster series.

  In fact, Mr. Borden was so stingy, he refused to let his daughters marry because he didn&apos;t want to pay a dowry.<br>That was a large part of the tension in the house.

  Wonderful critique and I agree. I also found it distasteful how Lizzie and Aileen (and the Countess), were turned into the victims, worthy of deep admiration and a heavenly eternity. These were real people that had their lives taken. And while Aileen definitely had a traumatic past, it’s obvious that her crimes were not all self defense, (if ANY), and are therefore heinous and cruel. Also, it should not in any way be called the Lizzie Borden story….its fiction and not even fully historical fiction

  Even the original made for tv movie from the 70&apos;s assumed her guilt, but they did it in such a way that still kept you guessing. The rest of the story was based on fact and the end is what most people think happened. In this one, even the characters are all way off, the father is too young, the step mother is too thin and good looking and Lizzie is portrayed as meek and not very bright. She was a Sunday school teacher and had a very strong personality.
