  From the title I’d say both. She became more of a monster after committing those crimes. A lot of these people tend to be both a victim and a monster

  she also apparently lived in the freaking woods for a couple years as a teen. I remember watching a doc about her and I&apos;ll never forget an interview with her elderly mom when she learned that and kind of nervously said &quot;I hope she had fun.&quot; <br>I don&apos;t know how delusional Aileen&apos;s mother was about life in general but that total denial of reality stuck with me. Like, your daughter&apos;s life was so terrible, she was living in the forest during the winter, selling her body to survive.

  Sometimes you can be two things at the same time. Aileen was both a Victim and a Monster. She was abused and broken as a child who took that rage into her adulthood. 😢

  this is just so sad. she grew up in awful circumstances and never learned that people’s lives hold value. it’s not an excuse but it is a big part of it

  No one asking why the people that abused her aren&apos;t in jail ? Her grandfather , why wasn&apos;t he jailed ? There should be true crime about them. They are the real evil.

  My bf (from FL) told me last night that he and his dad used to go fishing frequently, and for 4 consecutive nights in the early ‘90s, a homeless drifter (Aileen) was in the area and attempted to hang out with them. She carried almost nothing with her, but picked at her fingernails with a knife. She was extremely creepy and my bf and his dad felt scared by her. His dad is a tough mf and most people fear HIM, but she didn’t, which is one of the things that made them suspicious of her. She once actually touched my bf on the shoulder, almost half-hugging him, without his consent. She also asked him to help her somehow and he did, despite his dad having warned him beforehand to not go near her. Years later, they learned about the Monster movie and recognized her immediately. My bf usually enjoys true crime stuff, but he feels uncomfortable watching anything about her.

  Fun fact; Aileen actualy visited my home town Mancelona, MI in 1976 and ended up getting arrested for disturbing the peace at a local bar then called Berine&apos;s Club, it&apos;s now The Pizza Shoppe.
