When your Dr fills out the VA form 21-2680 ONLY ONLY ONLY list the disabilities that will entitle you to being awarded aid and attendance AKA SMC-L. IMPORTANT: if you have ANY SC conditions 50% or higher they must pay you a higher rate of SMC-L which can get you closer to 10k a month..I’m 55 and have been awarded. Before you jump down my throat I should’ve applied for this when SSA awarded me 13 years ago at age 42. I let the VA off easy. Those days are over.

I am a peacetime veteran and 70 years old. I live on straight SS income just over 1500 per month. I am on a mobility scooter given to me by the VA. However, the VA said I don't qualify for home care. I have been denied my claim I recently made over tinnitus and asthma under respiratory conditions. I am still going through other claims. They are claiming that I got these conditions since the VA allowed me to get approved for the woman's clinic. I am not in a safe handicap apartment. Hud Vash does help with my rent since Tampa is the highest rentals in Florida. I don't know about rental prices in other states. I worked as a Realtor in Connecticut, and the rents were high back in the 1990s. So, I moved to Florida in 1994. I actually worked under CWT at the admin office at James A Haley VA Hospital in 2000. But there is no help it seems for some monetary help so I can get the help I need right. I have been pushed aside and forgotten. US ARMY VETERAN

My brother tried to apply for these Aid and Attendance benefits for my Dad when he had to be in a nursing home. We contacted the VA and also external groups that were supposed to help. We got totally ripped off....no body at the VA helped. The groups that were supposed to help just hit you up for money...more like a fraud program. Going to the VA is totally weird...nearly empty, with offices empty.

I'm over 65 and didn't know about this until this helpful video. Where do I find the official information about SMC?

You have helped me before and thanks to the nexus letter you supplied I moved to 60 percent . I have put in another request for a Nexus to link my service connected rhinitis to my recently diagnosed sleep apnea.
