  Good solo technique for checking breakers is plugging in a vacuum and letting it run while you flip breakers

  Over the years, my father started to put the breaker number on the back of the plate. Also, if you are alone, plug in your noisy vacuum and listen while you turn the breakers off and on.<br><br>Fine video.

  Two extra tips that I&apos;m going to throw out there that I do for every outlet and switch. &nbsp;(1) Wrap electrical tape around the outlet to prevent other wires from touching the screw heads. &nbsp;And (2) use a Sharpie to write the breaker number on the back of the cover to quickly know which breaker to flip next time you need to work on the outlet.

  I did not read comments, but I am sure someone somewhere will argue about the backstabbing... don&apos;t! &nbsp;Scott is absolutely right here. &nbsp;I am not an electrician, but I was actually taught this by an electrical contractor... and I literally had the backstabbing in my house almost cause a fire. &nbsp;The lights in that room were flickering and we thought it was a faulty LED bulb (because others in that pack acted similarly)... I am grateful I happened to catch my daughter using the receptacle and light flicker... the wall of this receptacle was very hot to the touch... and I could hear once I got close, the sound of arcing/popping when wiggling the plug. &nbsp;Don&apos;t mess with it. &nbsp;Use the screw terminals. &nbsp;Please.

  You really should talk about aluminum wire in some of these common repair videos - many houses in my area built in 60s used this.
