It's astounding how you don't hear the difference between Apfel and Äpfel. Just goes to show how subjective the hearing process is and how much depends on what your brain already knows and recognises or not. Thank you for this very entertaining video!

As a German I appreciate the struggle. 😁 Every German remembers how hard it was to learn to pronounce “th” in our first English lessons.

This may help: a is like art, ä is like bang (bäng) o is like bone, ö is like circle (cörcle) u is like cool (cul), ü is like hymn (hümn)

I honestly thought Ryan’s wife was gonna burst through the door any second to check on him 😂 She probably heard those German umlauts from outside and thought he needed medical attention!
