Thanks buddy, I'm homeless in central Florida and was wondering how to use the palms round my tent. I've been curious as how to make cordage now I know. You may have saved a 70 yes old man life , again thanks.

Wonderful. been wanting to start making natural cordage from local sources, and plenty of them around all the creeks outside of Tampa Bay.

that looks like a great resource. showing the blood knot was good to see done with primitive cordage too

I've seen videos where they say to dry them first and then wet them so they are easy to bend. The reason is that once it starts to dry out it shrinks and loses its strength and tightness.

If the cordage dries out does it loose strength/flexibility?

Nice! I'm of the similar mindset as I'd rather be able to use what's easily available (abundant) than to hope I come across ideal materials when I want them.

What would be your approach for using this as a bowstring for a bow drill fire by friction? I suppose if you really wanted to make a set completely from Sabal Palm you could use the green leaf (frond) as a lubricant in the soft bearing-block.

I like your vids, but "yucca" is pronounced "yoo-kuh". I know, I think "yuck-uh" every time I see it too. Just be glad it's not pronounced "yoo-chuh". :P

Brother, I’m so glad you made this. I live in Central Florida and I’ve been bushcrafting for a while now but always struggle with resources. This is a win! 🫡
