  The principles, summarized:<br><br>1. Play moves that do multiple things at once.<br>2. Knights before bishops.<br>3. Best square for knights in the opening is f3/c3/f6/c6.<br>4. TO TAKE IS A MISTAKE (unless it actually improves your position).<br>5. Prioritize development.<br>6. Don&apos;t overthink. Stick to your #1 priority.<br>7. When there is nothing better to do, improve the least active piece.<br>8. Play moves on your opponent&apos;s half of the board.<br>9. If your attack doesn&apos;t have enough oomph, bring out more pieces into the attack.<br>10. Bring the queen close to the king.<br>11. Sacrifice pieces to remove the king&apos;s bodyguards.<br>12. Avoid wishful thinking. Assume your opponent will play good moves.<br>13. Consider &quot;impossible&quot; moves. You&apos;ll be surprised what you find.

  That last checkmate was honestly beautiful. When I noticed the combination, I was like &quot;there&apos;s no way that actually works,&quot; but it actually does. That&apos;s a line that most lower rated players (possibly myself included) wouldn&apos;t even consider, since it just seems like a terrible move. But look just one move past that &quot;terrible&quot; move, and you have a beautiful checkmate.

  Hi Igor I recently came back into chess after a 2 year break and I participated in a tournament about a week ago. I found your channel and it definitely was crucial to my quick improvement. Prior to my long break from chess, I was about 1800 but my opponents even thought I was at the 2000 level. I had only came back to chess for 1 month before the tournament. Your teaching style, teaching easy-to-understand principles instead of long theory, helped me a lot. You have reinvigorated my love for chess and I am very grateful to you.
