Mate very well said! I respect and admire you for speaking up. I'm a 30 year old apprentice and I've struggled a lot in the past with bosses that treat you like rubbish and expect you to perform! So thank you 😊

I'm an apprentice and I needed to hear this thankyou. Some days I really wonder if this is for me because I feel like I don't get everything straight away but I need to grit my teeth and keep trying

Have sent a message on your business website to you. Thank you for saying what needs to be said - really hope it gets seniors and bosses in any business to see how their actions and words affect the new ones coming up.

Not everyone is going to be the greatest at everything, being a good manager is about finding out who is good at what, getting them in the right positions, then empowering them to make decisions, I did 12 years in the automotive industry, and the best manager I've ever had was a 21 year old kid who was a personal trainer with a high level sports background, who accidentally fell into the industry and the CEO gambled on putting him in that position.

The guy knew absolutely nothing about the automotive industry but he was ace at getting the right people into the right position and letting them make decisions and do their thing, he was very effective at identifying peoples strengths, getting them into the right positions and putting together a good, high performing team. The guy never yelled or abused anyone, in an industry where yelling and abuse was the first thing out of everyones mouth.

Now I'm in commercial construction and its too many heroes and not enough capes, everyone is too busy trying to be the big dog, egos at 12 paces and we'll rush rush rush and fuck things up three times and do it right on the fourth time.

I'm a long retired teacher and in my career I taught Indigenous kids. What we all don't generally understand is the family life of these kids can be very dysfunctional. That aside you guys are really educators of a skilled trade. But not every tradesman is cut out to be an educator so friction obviously occurs on the site. If a tradesman had a tough experience while they were coming through they will most probably mirror that experience on the apprentice. I think you're doing a great job with what sounds to be a teenager who may be not the right fit for a site where high quality work needs to be done. He maybe better suited to another type of work and from the sounds of it you've done your very best. But there comes a stage where you may need to let go of him and put your time into another more centred lad.

No offence but I don't see your point help me understand

A job is a transaction between time and money?

If an employee cant provide a return on capital from me buying their time then

That's an non functional deal
I can't sustain the outlay for no result

I can go broke just as quickly eating chips at the beach and that sounds a hell of a lot more pleasant

Have you ever returned a order from a Fast food place?
How would you react to the manager going "look your order is wrong but tim just broke up will Sally and he's having a hard time putting the fries in the bag"
