It absolutely blows my mind that Americans seem fine getting no holidays then call it freedom. I would be striking all the time

In France, you get about 5 weeks of paid vacation per year (minimum). It’s not something you can hoard, so companies are legally required to make sure you take your time off. Otherwise they can get into big trouble.
And it’s not laziness as some people would say, it’s efficiency and teamwork so everyone can enjoy a proper work-life balance. "Work to live, don’t live to work." ✌

No, Finland is not a Scandinavian country, but it is a Nordic country. There are only three countries in Scandinavia and they are Denmark, Norway and Sweden.

Research shows that after 8 hours, workers' productivity declines, and there are more mistakes and accidents. In the EU and especially Denmark, we work 1/4 fewer hours per year than Americans but are more productive, because we are rested and feel valued where we work—not everyone, but most—and those who are dissatisfied change jobs or take a new education, which is of course free in our country.

What do you mean " what would you do with all that time off? You can't go on so many vacations. How would you afford that?". It is PAID time off, so you use the money that you get during your time off to go on vacations.

It’s done online and the information is all automatically updated to the platform and you just have to confirm everything and two weeks later you get your tax refund. It’s that simple

We call it Annual Leave, not paid time off. We also have sick leave, maternity and paternal leave.
