Thanks for watching the episode! Now for some corrections:
1. The clip at 11:36 should be credited to Randy C.
2. My pronunciation of Pharrell Williams was botched, should've been more like "Fuh-rell".

If there's anything else, please feel free to leave comment!

I think these are the only locomotives under Amtrak’s ownership with a natural range/environment.

Edit: These are the Tesla Cybertruck of Amtrak diesels.

I can now see why P42DC is still running to this day, this is because P42DC isn’t 30 or 40 year old as of yet while P40DC is over of just 31 years old

Former Amtrak engineer here, i was one of the engineers for the initial launch of the ALC-42's on the Empire Builder. The ALC-42's oddly enough do not play well with p42's despite being paired together often especially with blended braking and acceleration. When we were testing the sc-44 as a trailing unit on the builder Siemens crews took a lot of notes from the crews... And did the exact opposite. As the chargers were designed in california they did not insulate the cab much at all, and mounted the horn directly behind the engineer leading to skull rattling at each crossing and freezing conditions in the cab. The horns on the first six kept freezing so Siemens zip tied a plug in heater from Walgreens to attempt to keep it clear, this did not work. Bathrooms were also uninsulated and right below the horn making for a fun way to literally scare the feces out of your coworker. Most computer errors would result in cut traction and a lot of legnthy delays.

I was one of the only ones at my crew base optimistic about the new toys and they ended up being the bane of my existence. All in all they have a long ways to go, but i do believe they'll get there one day. I have so many stories from these misfits, though i still retain hope for them

Surprised you didn’t talk about that fact the Surfliner chargers are dying quick and the fact one of the has already been retired, still a great video either way.

Fun fact: the reason why P42s are behind ALC-42s it’s because that just in case if the charger malfunctions the P42 can lead it

not gonna lie, I don't really get the hate the Chargers get from railfans. (other than just people not liking it entirely just because it's new). Yeah, they've got plenty of teething troubles but I still think they're neat

Bro basically did it in the p42 one, he decided to do it again. We shall respect that.

Amtrak mechanic here: These chargers are so much more of a pain than theyre worth. My favorite failure so far is the random faults with no fault log entry that shut the engine down.

SC-44 and ALC-42: suffers from hyperthermia in the winter
Brightline’s SCB-40: never has to worry about freezing to death, thanks to living in Florida
