If councils in the UK cared at all, they would be studying vids like this and researching the tiny home concept. In the same way that pre-fab housing saved the UK after WW2, container homes and similar ideas would solve the housing crsis within 4-5 years and give time to plan for the following decades without so many unhoused citizens.. This is affordable and do-able. If l only someone had the imagination .....

You will probably find there are a lot of other added costs: like site preparation, connecting to services (electricity, water and sewerage), footings or concrete pads for the house to sit on, transportation costs and you may need a crane to get it lifted onto the site.

That $9,000 unit would be $100,000 in Canada. Almost like they want you to be homeless....

If we had actually dealer lots like you are showing in Sophia, here in the United States - all of these homes would be sold. The prices are more than fair for the size and really affordable. The US is trying to block these homes from being imported in from China because they KNOW that people want them and will buy them immediately. $9,000 for a one bedroom house and a bathroom is honestly the way to go.

I don't think that you should write off renovating the house I would get the roof sorted on the house, install a wood fired stove/ cooker then open all the windows and doors to get some air moving in the house. You'd be surprised how quickly the interior recovers with TLC.

Needs a good insulation for the winter, big glass windows, high heating costs. There is no heating system in any of them? Without an elevated foundation it will rust from underneath.

When choosing a container house look at wall thickness. Take that whose has thicker walls. In winter it will be huge plus. You did not need to spent a lot of energy to heat it. Good luck. 😘
