  The kind of extreme patriotism found in the US generally leads to a refusal to accept uncomfortable historical truths, and this is evident in your education system: lies about World War II, lies about the conquest of the West (Thanksgiving is truly the most hypocritical of celebrations) and so on. And all of this inevitably has very serious consequences sooner or later.

  Neighbours of mine had to flee the Balkans because of their religion. They raised 2 children now adults, hard working people. Do I hate them for being of another religion and countries? NO, I respect them and helped the children during Covid with school. The children adopted me and my wife as uncle and aunt. We are proud of it. We should appreciate people regardless of their skincolor, religion or places of origin. What counts, is the their character.

  Patriotism → Nationalism → Fascism! <br>No, thank you, as a German, I know this escalation all too well! <br>It didn’t just happen in Germany, many countries suffer from this disease! <br>The current victim is the U.S., it’s almost in its final stages!!

  1. If people believe they&apos;re better off than anyone else, they&apos;re contempt.<br><br>2. If they&apos;re contempt, they won&apos;t rebel.<br><br>3. If they won&apos;t rebel, the people in power can do whatever they want unopposed.<br><br>Other than that, having people unite around the flag and idea of patriotism makes for an easily exploitable in-group / out-group system or tribalism.<br>Wherein disagreement with the system can be portrait as amoral, unpatriotic, un-American.<br><br>You can see why people in power would want to keep this as the status quo. Conservatives in particular love an easy excuse to call someone they don&apos;t like an outsider and threat.<br>Like immigrants or liberals.
