I think this is what got me into wrestling more than anything as a kid. The Patriot was my Hulk Hogan.

I have to explain why commentator, David Webb suddenly thought he was Elvis. Back in the 1950s the Dallas Sportatorium was home to a weekly radio show called “the big D jamboree“ it was sort of the Texas equivalent to the grand Ole Opry, or the Louisiana hayride. Right as he went national as a superstar, Elvis performed there a few times and apparently there is a poster promoting an Elvis concert that was on display at the Sportatorium. When David Webb got knocked in the head, he suffered amnesia woke up saw the picture of Elvis and assumed that he was Elvis… I mean when you put it like that… It makes even less sense.

I do remember the GWF and getting home from school on "minimum days" where I'd be able to catch the 1pm (Pacific Time) showings on ESPN. The wrestling itself was good, the Cartel angle was pretty good for most of its run. Jon Horton, David Webb and Doyle King did a good job making chicken salad out of well, you know...
