Their accent is closer to Erzurum Armenian dialect but influenced by Turkish more heavily.

Made my Kurdish Grandma from Adıyaman/Kahta listen. She got a few sentences. She was interested in the language. She said "it's like a mixture of Turkish, Kurdish and something else". Persian influence is probably the Kurdish part she mentions. İn Kahta, Kurdish also is heavily influenced by Turkish and Persian. Both communities are far from each other and it's amazing how similar their language is.

Güzel bir video olmuş kuzum. Sana bir tavsiyem olacak gelecek için. Videolarının açıklamasına da kullandığın kaynakları eklersen çok güzel olur. Hatta bunları akademik bir şekilde kaynakçada tutarsan çok daha profesyonel duracaktır, faydalı olacaktır.

    6:35 from chatgpt
"The suffix “-ի” (-i) is Armenian and ancient — it goes back to Classical Armenian (Grabar) and is part of the Indo-European system of genitive/possessive endings.

Function: marks possession or belonging, roughly equivalent to the English “of” or possessive ’s.

Examples:

Մարիայի տուն (Mariayi tun) → Maria’s house

Արամի գիրքը (Arami girkʿə) → Aram’s book

It comes from the genitive case ending (Classical Armenian -ի), not from Turkish influence.

So in Armenian, it’s a native grammatical suffix that forms genitive (possessive) case.

---

🇹🇷 In Turkish

The suffix “-ı / -i / -u / -ü” (with vowel harmony) is also a possessive suffix, but it has a different grammatical origin — it comes from Turkic morphology, not Indo-European.

Function: indicates third person singular possession — “his/her/its.”

Examples:

Evi → his/her house (from ev, “house”)

Kitabı → his/her book (from kitap, “book”)

Arabası → his/her car

So in Turkish, it’s a pronominal possessive ending, not a case marker like in Armenian.
