Appreciate the coverage of Chulyms ❤ we're struggeling to maintain culture and language.

I get chills and tears hearing that audio segment of our language 😢 its been so long hearing it like that.

What makes the language different is that we are Yeniseian by origin and applied that grammar/logic to the turkic language we adopted.

Friends, as an Altai native whose language is quietly dying, I have come to understand a simple truth: language cannot be preserved solely through the efforts of the people or through the transmission of knowledge from parents to children. This is an unstable form of language inheritance, and a more stable form is the inheritance of the linguistic environment, which is expressed in the fact that language is essential for an individual's self-realization in society, whether it be through work, education, politics, or achieving a high social status. If this is not the case, and the entire environment is based on a different language, while your language is relegated to the periphery of "communication at home with your family," then your language is gradually eroded by life itself, no matter what anyone says. Even the optional study of a language or the small gifts that are given to you in the field of native linguistics do not make a difference in the long term, strategic perspective. Ultimately, it comes down to the structural, political, and social realities of a particular nation, and if they are unlucky, they are forgotten. I ask you to value your political freedom and independence, for they are the guardians of the language to a greater extent than all cultural programs combined.

It's truly sad that languages and dialects are disappearing. India also has a policy of imposing Hindi, which some have called "linguistic genocide." 😢😢

All languages and dialects should be protected by law as "cultural monuments."
