Selling VK at a convention taught me that the experience is about much more than making sales.

You have to communicate your vision, connect with different personalities, manage inventory, collect contact information, and build relationships with readers and other creators.

For those who have sold their work at a convention: What was the biggest lesson you learned?

And if you’re preparing for your first convention, what part of the experience concerns you the most?

It's been a few years since I've sold my work at cons. I am looking to go back, and I'm glad i watched this video because this is advice that people definitely need to hear. Thanks for this one!

Tried doing this shit longer than 20 years and one thing you'll realize is that you only went this route because you saw another creator go this route and they were successful. But that doesn't mean you'll be successful.

I always want to be an artist entrepreneur ever since I first learned about it. I have no problem going conventions and running my own business. I only need the funds and the resources to do these things.

As a creator who's trying to eventually make my own original comic series. This was very a good information to have about the infrastructure you need around it.Not just the creative part that was refreshing to hear.Thank you

Everything you said is true.

My first time being a vendor at a con (last year) was rather fruitful because I did my due diligence by scouting previous cons and talking to the vendors. Gaining an understanding of what to do and how to do it is obviously one of the most insightful tactics to execute on. The feeling of having a booth and talking to potential customers is the most high-like feeling I’ve ever experienced, and I do plan to continue being a creative entrepreneur. Considering not only the books I write, but the audios and comic dubs I also form with the help of others who’re skilled, and of course productive feedback. God put me on this earth to create, and while I have my down moments, I have been blessed to keep going on and make fruitful opportunities with others.

That is a rather necessary skill that many creatives sadly don’t have. Hopefully this comment can inspire them into pivoting toward a great outcome, but it takes a lot of work. Both internal and external.

Brian, this was really a great video.Cuz I'm an introvert and I suffer with social anxiety a lot.But I know to get my comic out there.I need to get out of my comfort zone.

Dude, just found your channel this morning and I gotta tell you, as a creator who's been stuck in analysis paralysis fighting just to get my creative direction back, finding your channel is a godsend!

It's funny as you have to be kind of an introvert to get the work done, BUT then you have to get out there and sell, sell, sell. It's kind of a Jekyll and Hyde thing.

Everything is making total sense.
