  OB needs to win FB games. It’s that simple. If they lose games 1 and 2…. 1-11 is a real possibility. Sad but true.

  The lack of an offensive coordinator will be the single biggest issue this team runs into this year. &nbsp;It takes away from BOB&apos;s ability to manage the rest of the game. &nbsp;Also, Mason McKenzie does not have the potential to be a gamechanger. &nbsp;What we saw in the spring practices is that the guy is going to be a turnover machine, and I find it hilarious that people are sitting here saying &quot;yeah, after decades of coaching a certain way and preferring a certain style of play, he&apos;s just going to have a change of heart and let his mobile quarterback run.&quot; Look what happened with Castellanos. &nbsp;Yes, he may have &quot;learned from it&quot; and put a half dozen designed run plays in the playbook to make him feel like he did something to adjust, but I bet you dollars to donuts that despite a decent running game, BOB has been hardwired to pass first and will revert back to his old ways. &nbsp;He&apos;s an old man who is set in his ways. If this team strays too far from the run, it will all go to hell, and that&apos;s assuming running the ball works behind an entirely new offensive line. &nbsp;<br><br>BOB needs to win 8 games for me to get back in my good graces. &nbsp;That was the expectation when he was hired - not to be an Alabama, but to keep us from being the laughingstock of our conference or of college football at large. &nbsp;Getting back to 5-7, 6-6 does nothing to change that narrative. He was brought in to make the program better, getting back to the Hafley-Addazio numbers just gets us back to normal and that&apos;s not why he was brought here.

  I’m a little surprised that university presidents haven’t already pursued a path of separate, regionally focused conference realignment for the Olympic sports already. Football, basketball and hockey can, and already do to a degree, operate on single-sport conference alignments already. The Marylands, Rutgers, MS States, and Vanderbilts are only in because they provide the power schools with easy conference and overall wins because there’s a perception that gaudy records matter in getting into the playoffs. Thanks to the NCAA expanding FB and BB postseason field’s recently, that is no longer necessary. These conferences have also achieved, through their aggressive expansion policies, nationwide tv interest (there are no empty seats at their stadiums that need folks to sit in). They don’t need a Rutgers to gain eyeballs in NYC. &nbsp;So yes, I think regional conferences in FB will eventually happen, once the big 2 officially spinoff from the NCAA. And there will be plenty of quality programs in the northeastern/mid-Atlantic region to assemble a good regional conference. And BC will not be left out of that.

  Maryland and Rutgers will never leave the enormous big 10 pay check &nbsp;for an inferior big east. 100 million dollars annually.

  BC historically has only been successful when it has had the ability to hold and develop players (OLine U) and occasionally catch lightning in a bottle with a player or two who were difference makers who could carry an offense or defense by themselves. NIL and legal payments to players has made that formula no longer viable. Simple as that. You now have to be able to pivot and reinvent yourself with a whole new cast every year because the really good players you develop each year will be bid away by the deep pocket “pro” teams. How many coaches can really do that? &nbsp;The other thing to potentially keep in mind (if you really believe this narrative) is that the former president invested the ACC revenue stream in a manner that did not allow the football program to maximize its potential (OMG, he put the money into academics!). If that has any credence, then it’s is possible that the new president may place more of a priority on the FB program. That is not going to yield benefits in season 1. It will take years. I understand that fans are not likely to have the patience to give the program time to revitalize itself, whether BOB I the coach or anyone else is. I also understand that fans may just not believe anything posited under a long term plan scenario given the long drought experienced since Jags left. Bottom line - it would be nice if BC started this season 3-0 but I don’t think it will be a reliable predictor of this season’s ultimate record. There are simply too many foundational issues in college football that BC hasn’t been able or hasn’t wanted to keep up with and no one knows where the leaders and influencers of this university are going to position this program going forward.
