A little bit of Valentino trivia with a personal connection: I went to Hollywood High School back in the 60's , the mascot for the school is Valentino's the Sheik. The school started as a two room school house in 1903 but by 1921, Hollywood had grown up around it and many of it's students were children of stars or future stars themselves ( this was still true in the 1960's). It was in 1921 when Valentino 's film "The Sheik" debut at a Hollywood Blvd. theater one block from the school and it was at that time that the school decided to make the Sheik their mascot and it still is today. There used to be an enormous mural of Valentino as the Sheik on the wall of the auditorium ( I'm not sure if it is still there). Thank you for this wonderful presentation on Valentino's life and the dispelling of many of the rumors surrounding him.❤

The first time I heard of Valentino was when my grandmother told me there were young women fainting in public when it was announced that he had suddenly died. As a young Italian woman, I'm sure she adored him.

I love how Rudy was such a lover of dogs and horses, and owned several of each. Plus he was just so very sensual!

I went thru an intense Valentino thing a couple of years ago. One view of Son of the Sheik and I was smitten. I can imagine what the reception was like 100 years ago. He got his point across. And how. Lovely video. Thank you. Cheers ❤

You say his mother Gabriella collapsed when she heard the news of her son's death, but his mother died in 1919. Check that out.

In an interview, the actor Ben Lyons knew the Pola Negri thing was a publicity stunt of her making. He was close to Valentino.

The video I've been waiting for and it was great ! I've always had a soft spot for Rudolph Valentino, becoming interested in him after watching the Sheik. I visited his grave thinking it would be abandoned, but alas it was covered with lipstick kisses. I also visited the Rudolph Valentino museum in Castellaneta, Italy - a wonderful museum in a beautiful town. I highly recommend it. Thanks very much for doing this, I really enjoyed it and I love all your work.
