  For any English speakers watching this: they are replacing the main cable, because it is damaged. The red tape marks the section where wires have broken. The way these work is that the cable runs from the main drum out to a traveler, down to the hook, back up to the traveler and out to the end of the boom. A second cable moves the traveler along the boom. That allows the load to be moved as the cable runs through the traveler and the sheaves on the hook.  They start by caging the hook, locking it to the traveler. That takes the load off the wire and they let out some slack. They put a stop on the cable so it can't pass through the traveler. They remove the pin connecting the end fitting of the cable to the end fitting on the boom. The stop prevents the cable from going back to the traveler and leaves the end hanging free. Now the end is at the traveler and can return to the tower and the main cable drum. With a little encouragement the end of the cable heads to the ground. On the ground they cut off the end and hook the new cable to the remains of the old with a long mess sock which tightens when pulled on. This allows the new cable with the new end fitting and the stop to be pulled through the traveler and along to the winch. Another stop is added so that the cable can't head back to the ground. The new cable can now be wound off the drum again and the new can be separated from the old by just sliding the mesh sleeve towards the join, expanding it. The old cable can now simply be wound off to the last few turns and secured with a strop and clamp. The cable end can now be unclamped from the winch drum and removed. The bitter end of the old cable can be released by cutting the strop. Now time to thread the new cable bitter end into the winch drum clamps. With the new cable secured it can be carefully wound onto the winch drum. The clamp that prevented the new cable from falling is removed before continuing to load the winch drum with new cable. On the ground the new end has been fitted and can now be winched up to the traveler with a strop on the end to help with installation. Now we climb back into the traveler and it moves to the end of the boom. The reinstalled stop prevents the end of the cable from passing through the traveler.  Moving to the end of the boom the cable end fitting is reinstalled with the pin, held with a cotter pin. The final stop can then be removed. The traveler then returns to the tower and can be uncaged by removing the last pin. All done, ready for work. Great job! "Oh yeah!" It always amuses me when non-English speakers drop English exclamations :D

  lol when i was 14 years old, i used to climb the hydro transmission towers at night, so nobody could see me, and looking down over town was so cool! with all street lights on, Amazing! i stayed op there for hours!

  Ich habe eigentlich keine große Höhenangst, aber bei dem rumgeturne da oben wird mir schon schwindelig vom zuschauen…. 😂 <br> <br>Ich hätte vor allen Dingen die ganze Zeit Schiss, dass mir irgendwas aus der Hand fällt… 😅
