  my friend once said, with drum brakes you will just crash into the obstacle ahead, with disc brakes(without ABS) you will just lock up and fall before the obstacle

  You can buy a brand new tw200 that still has a rear drum. &nbsp;My grandsons robot will probably have to change it one day.

  As for disc brake bleeding: get a big plastic syringe, and fill the brake lines from the caliper nipple upward<br>This forces air up, where it actually wants to go<br>Far easier, and faster

  Brakes are heating devices. They turn kinetic energy (energy of speed) into heat. Heat is not a side effect, it is the effect. On a race course or in the twisties you will brake repeatedly without your brakes cooling down to ambient. Brakes are judged on their ability to store and dissipate heat. A single stop means nothing. How many laps can you do before the brake overheats and fades? Back in the 1970’s with drum brakes I was practicing trail braking downhill and the drum front brake completely faded. It’s true. You can lean a lot further than you think. Every motorcycle I’ve had since then had single or dual disc brakes. I love dual disc front brakes. I’ve never had another brake fade.

  You forgot about the leading-shoe servo effect, where the friction of the drum actually sucks the leading shoe in. &nbsp;Back in &apos;69 when the Honda CB750 came out, a good twin-leading-shoe front brake had much better bite and feel than the numb feeling front disk on the CB750. &nbsp;Of course the heat dissipation issue is real. &nbsp;Not so much for a street rider, &nbsp;but on a racetrack where you&apos;re hard on the front brake all the time, you definitely need a disk brake, at least on the front. &nbsp;The back brake isn&apos;t that important which is why rear drums were common on motorcycles for &nbsp; quite a long time.
