My God she is still stunning. 56 years old and the worst possible webcam angle and she still looks gorgeous.

I really loved watching Sabatini play tennis. The spin, the angles, the shot making, and of course that backhand. Mauresmo followed her with similarly creative tennis. Swiatek is the most similar among the top players today. Let’s hope tennis retains the capacity to support all sorts of styles, including Sabatini’s style of beautiful creative tennis, in the decades to come.

I can’t help wondering what Sabatini would have achieved if she’d played with one of today’s super spin-friendly racquets.

My all time favorite tennis story .mary pierce was playing at a club a couch said to her how long have you been playing tennis .” She said 45minutes “ no not today all long have you been tennis in your life “ 45 minutes “

What a great, genuine, sincere, revealing interview. Very honest. I appreciate it! Thank you. Big fan of G.S. I didn't realize she is kind of shy.

Slam scale tennis must be brutal on players. The skill level is just so high that to win is maximum physical and mental endurance. To then have to go and immediately speak to a broadcaster going world wide on what happened in the game in front of a massive enthusiastic crown is just extreme. Tennis players deserve to be left alone and not followed relentlessly by the press in everything they do.

I think burnout is sometimes something else.
Top level players usually start the tennis journey at 5 years of age or thereabouts.
By the time they are playing major tournaments they have been playing for 10-15 years.
A lot changes when you go from childhood to teens to adulthood and sometimes the sport that means so much to you becomes meaningless.
Some players just lose interest in it.
