2 or 4. Much better dorsal hight. Though 2 is a bit on the short side.

Dad got dumbo pecs which in my opinion most likely come from mosaic that is why #2 got that mosaic like pattern on the tail.

I totally agree 100% with you on the culling decision. I would only cull if its unhealthy and deformed. Now I'm a bit confused about your objective but if your looking for a full red ribbon line you should use her non koi head ribbon daughters to the more reddish males. Now we all know that males do show the most color versus females. Ive never seen an all red female most often they have a clear mid region without color. Now the son #4 with the clear head flowing dorsal and thick peduncle with solid red tail i would have crossed him back to koi mom as you should get more koi head popping up as the mom koi head should be inherited instead of getting a bleached red tone head to caudal. Now specimen 2 shows patterns in the tail simply because the solid color modifiers are limited and u can see it clearly. Infact imo all solid types are simple a masked pattern type with a dominant color modifier concealing the patterns. The male you use is in fact an albino dumbo which was selectively bred from mosaic to get the solid redtail. However the pattern is still present just masked to look full color. That's why whenever you cross different solid tail types you often see some patterns in F1and onwards. It until they fully inherit the solid caudal color modifier u regain solid tail color. Sometimes its even best to candlelight the caudal to see how much under lining pattern is seen prior to cross it. My term candlelight is to flash a strong light from behind to see how it penetrates the tail. This give an effective idea how densely colored the caudal is. Goodluck with the breeding.

Your second breeding is too risky.
Parent to off-spring of mother to son and father to daughter is too risky.
Especially the father to daughter.
Geneticists frown on this type of pairing.
Yes it will concentrate the color expressed by the male in his phenotype, but it will also concentrate any issues carried in his daughters he is then bred to.
They are born with his X chromosome, then bred to him, 50% of the next generation will have 2 of that X chromosomes.
They will then pass that same chromosome on and it will concentrate any issue in it.
But that is only one of the 12 chromosomes he is passing to his off-spring.
All of the 12 chromosomes he gave in that second breeding will each have a 50% chance of being doubled and then concentrated in each of the following generations as they are inter/line bred.
This is where the deformities and low birth rates come in.
It will first show up in the females, then in 2-3 generations in the males.
By then the color and fin patterns are set and the strain is in your local pet stores where the sellers will tie the garbage strain to their supplier: you.
They will then choose someone else to supply the strain type.
