  Hi, I work as a sys admin at a German company. We use Mistral for OCR and workflow automations because it is privacy compliant and as a side effect very cheap.

  Mistral is a consultant company. Half their resources are focused on integrating their models in companies. Which is a sane calculation to get B2B market shares when you have 5% of what the other have in term of compute and more regulation.<br>It&apos;s not great for Europe, but the best we can do right now.

  One thing you forgot in your analysis : with such a growth in revenue, they&apos;re also proving their own business model actually works and will become profitable way before the US big techs. If you&apos;re putting yourself in a position to be able to self-fund your R&amp;D sooner than those relying on investor money, you can allow your frontier model to slide slightly in the short term. They&apos;re in there for the long haul. And it&apos;s great a company in Europe has that vision.

  We&apos;re obsessed with rankings... The vast majority of economic use of models can be done by smaller models as well.

  The Frontier AI race has become insane and Mistral cannot keep up. THAT BEING SAID their specialized models and positioning on the market is actually relevant. OCR4 is genuinely one of the best OCR model right now. And China can compete with Mistral on common industries, but they will never get to strategic industries because the trust is not there. That&apos;s why Samsung, ASML, etc are turning to Mistral, keep in mind the company makes most of its profit outside of europe, the world is big.<br>Mistral is topping the revenues of Grok this year, their focus on cost optimization is actually FUCKING relevant considering the cost explosion of frontier models.

  Market leaders are investing in development and capacity expansion to capture the market.<br>As far as I know, Mistral has chosen a different business development strategy. They are more focused on cost optimization, regulatory compliance, model security, and architecture improvements. They are pursuing gradual, diversified development at the expense of the race for AGI.

  man, I feel bad. mistral models used to be my &quot;go to&quot; models back in 2023. like there was nothing which could beat mistral back then, plus it sounded the most human.
