  £9,500 + VAT ... (not faulty) wing mirror switch. ... a part that's the same as a £1.89 part (washer - pack of 5) from a VW transporter 🙂

  It's not his fault that his father was rich. There are lots of family businesses like that. What counts is where he takes it. One of the big problems with family businesses is by the third or fourth generation they have run it to ground living lavish lifestyles. The founder is generally very frugal and astute. The inheritors  are not. I wish Carl all the best and hope he builds it further but succession is a problem for many businesses. This is why there are no rich Romans.

  Most people are afraid 😱 to even think of servicing something like a Bugatti by themselves, but with such a car the hype alone is 100 times more than the part that needs repair 😂. Great story

  What’s not being mentioned is that Bugatti is like a small jet to maintain for the same reason people don’t want planes falling out the sky.

  "bugatti's average customers own 32 cars"    People who own 32 cars, at least, high quality luxary cars, are not caring about the costs of repairs.

  Fair play. No matter how much money you have, being mugged off is damn right theft. Money is money. Know the value of everything but not the price.

  when he started talking about, by thirty, owning the car thought back to growing up around wood hulled yachts fifty years back. in my head, car cost maintenance equivalent of a two-hundred-foot wood hulled yacht. if were going to spend for such maintenance it would be for, say, a 1932 Weymann-LaGrande bodied dual-cowl torpedo phaeton by Duesenberg. Also partial to late '60s Ferrari's. Mighty fond of their 1967 275 GTB/4... as was actor Steve McQueen. At sixteen got to drive a 1972 Mercedes 3.5 coupe. Take that as a cabriolet with a stick over just about anything.

  All these super and hypermarket manufacturers know they can charge what they want for parts and service as their clientele are loaded.<br><br>A win win situation.
